Fuel Leak H4 Model

I have a fuel leak from between Number 1 and 2 carburettors from the small drain pipe that connects them together (no leak from 3 and 4). Nothing in the Kawasaki manual and i don't want to strip them before getting more info.

Any advice ??

Only that you should replace the pipe

I dont think its too hard of a job. Since its a pipe between 1 and 2 you should just get away with unscrewing the carb from the two strips that hold the lot together, then simply replace the pipe. You will need to take note of how it all goes together obviously, especially where choke slide is and the adjustment screws are for balancing, speaking of which you will also need to re-balance the carbs after as they will moe than likely be out of sync afterwards.

Just take plenty of pictures if you can, so that when you re-assemble you have something concrete to go by if you get stuck or have any spare bits.

Now normally i might agree ! But this is designed to drain fuel from between the carb bodies and as the microfiche shows it is a T Piece with a downward facing, gravity pulling, 1/4" pipe.

The leak is significant and unfortunately drains directly onto the exhaust pipes

Oh i see, thought you mean part 92005B. Well i think that is the overflow for the float bowls, so i can only assume that either the needles have worn or theres some crap in there. The carb needs to come apart either way.

So what you are saying is that either number 1 carb or number 2 has an overflowing float bowl?

I suspect so, i'll have the carbs off within the hour. I assume this is caused by a sticking float or similar ? Any suggestions as to what else can cause it ??

Just in case this happens to anyone else.

Fuel leak was caused by the float bowl on number 1 carb becoming fouled with debris from the tank (the carbs will then overflow as per design but this discharges directly onto the exhaust down pipes) this was down to a collapsed petrol filter which had almost certainly never been changed. I used a Volvo in line filter from Halfords to replace the Kawasaki original.

Carbs were stripped down to component parts with the following faults found:
All bowls foulded
Needle valves blocked
Air valve needle plastic guide missing from 1 carb body
Incorrectly assembled choke linkage.
Air screws seized
Tank flushed out and resealed
All fuel piping replaced and system flushed through with clean petrol

Carbs rebuilt but as yet without plastic guide, balanced as per the artice by RobB and the bike runs like a dream.
