Is this a scam?

Post by gubbs »

I got a 'sorry you were out' card saying there is a charge to pay for an item and I need to pick it up with ID.

I haven't ordered anything ..

Unless someone has sent me a gift or something I wasn't aware of.

Any ideas?

Sounds like a scam to me.

Whats the name of the company that delivered it? Search em up on the internet. If its from Royal Mail id say you were pretty safe. I think with Royal Mail, all you need is the docket. If your in doubt, just go with the ticket and no ID and say you forgot.

not heard of that one before, if you owe money some companies send you mail that you have to pay for.

Its probably that someone has sent you a letter and because of the new charges (size and weight) they have got the postage wrong. I think they charge a £1.20 handling fee so the postage was probably only 4p out. I had one that was 14p short and I had to pay £1.34 to get the letter. grrrrr.

sorry to kinda hijack the thread but along scamming lines, i was watching 'the real hustle' the other week and the scam was a geezer goin into a restaurant saying they had wine spilt on their tie the week before and the owner said bring in a receipt from dry cleaners and the restaurant would pay a cheque for expense.

so a phony receipt is made up for £9

y £9 u may ask, well it is very easy to add a 'TY' to the NINE bit and a '0' after the 9 in the digit bit hence the £9 cheque from the restaurant is now £90, how cruel is that?
