(Out Of) Order In The Courtroom!!!

Post by Jamz »

Falling asleep in public can be hilarious!

Think of anyone you've ever seen nodding off in a meeting or something? It's probably not so good if you're that person, but to watch it happening to someone else is great!

As I had a stint working - sorry, 'working' as a Security Officer, I had my fair share of moments. I was glad of the sun for once in my life, because that meant the sunglasses went on and the eyes closed.

On a nightshift once, I was spark out in my security hut. I missed my check-in call, so the head office called me to see if I had been strangled.

I remember the phone waking me, but not knowing who or where I was. My arm was awake, and picked up the phone, placing it to my ear. The traitor!

"...hello....?" my sleepy voice crackled, as if, well, as if I'd just woken up! Doh!

But the funniest story I've ever heard was from my Dad.

As part of his job, he had to appear in the courtroom with a few work colleagues.

One of these colleagues, sat in front of my Dad, found the whole thing a bit boring.

Sure enough, it wasn't long before a faint snoring sound began to drift around the courtroom.

My Dad sniggered a bit, seeing Snorey's head starting to loll forwards.

As time went on, the snoring got steadily louder.

The judge started to look up, but because it was a short stealthy snore, every time he did, the noise had gone again, and with the echo around the chamber, he couldn't place it.

A few others started looking around for the source.

My Dad, becoming a bit concerned that his mate would get done for contempt of court, decided he should do something to try and wake Snorey up. A few deft coughs did nothing, and even more people were starting to look like merecats on the lookout.

He rolled up a small piece of paper, flicking it at Snorey.

Snorey spluttered a few times mid-snore, attracting even more attention his way, but still didn't wake up.

Finally, my Dad hit Snorey with a good shot, just as the Judge, Jury, and all the courtroom locked in to the biggest snore yet.

Just as all the eyes turned his way, Snorey smacked his lips a few times as he awoke, shifted in his seat, let rip with an Early Morning Fart (the high-pressure bugel call-type ones), whilst in the same motion turning in his seat and loudly shushing my Dad!

Picture all eyes now firmly on my Dad, now rapidly turning a shade of scarlet, as Snorey attentively turned back to face the front, now refreshed by his nap.

I don't think he ever really forgave him for that...

Have you ever fallen asleep in public?

Cant say i have myself, watching people is hilariously funny with thier head nodding up n down slightly then one big nod that usually wakes them as thier head drops forward. If your lucky they dont wake and the same happens again, making it even funnier!

I actually try not to fall asleep in public, main reason being incase im mugged or theres someone just like me looking at me and getting a good laugh at my expense!

yeah. been there.

to be fair, i got dragged into a 2 hour meeting. 1h59m30s of which had nothing to do with me. Didn't actually fall asleep but I was nodding nicely.

training courses watching presentations in darkened rooms is always good as well.

I did......

After leaving school, got a job at a bank on their computers.

Got on well, so was sent on a week's Tandem course down at Heathrow, Stockwell Park.

First night after flying into Heathrow, sat in the bar with a few sherbert's, as you do, lost track of time after about the 5th pint, but needless to say that I had a stinker of a hangover for the first day! On top of which I woke up full of cold.

First day on the course, armed with plenty of toilet paper to blow my nose, I fell asleep at @10am. Instructor came over tapped me on the sholuder and asked if I was OK, do you want to leave and come back tomorrow?

At this point (just coming round) I noticed it's 10:30, everyone is sniggering at me, and to top it all there's snot all down my face!

Cleaned myself up and continued the course, even got a certificate at the end of it, and the instructor bought us all a pint in the pub before we left!!!

Embarrassed is nothing until you've fallen asleep in a room full of strangers!!!!
Been there, seen it, done it...... back to a 400 ;-)
