Re: Anyone using virgin media?
We've got Virgin for everything.
We've had problems with them, some of which were ridiculous. But thats all in the past. V long story.
Anyway, get on the blower to them and tell them your not paying for what you CAN'T use. Demand at least a free months connection for the hassle. If they don't do this, ask to be put through to customer retentions. They'll sort recompence out for you at the drop of a hat. Just tell them you'll leave if they don't.
Their call centres are a joke, ring during the day, you may hit the jackpot and get the english call centre ( based in Ireland I think ), call in the eveing you're garenteed to get India. They all run from the script, disconnect your modem, wait 30 secs, reconnect modem, blah, blah, blah!
The best we had was with the phone. Could make out going calls, couldn't receive incoming calls. Call centre response after being in a queue for an hour.... "hang up while we check the line, then we'll call you back!" ---- KNOBS
Have fun, remember, don't swear at them, they'll just hang up. Wait till you've got what you want, then swear at them!!!
Rob.

Re: Anyone using virgin media?
well its been ok today, internet was on when i got up 7.30 this morning, went off for about 3.5 hours this afternoon and has been back on since and been on trouble free all evening.
Friend of mine said to call then and tell them that we wont pay, he got a months free. I would call them myself, but the account is in my housemates name, and no doubt they wont talk to me unless im the account holder.

Re: Anyone using virgin media?
well made a little progress today!
Yesterday i called them up and pretended to be my housemate, cos im sick to death of not knowing if im going to have a bloody internet service or not! The indian chap on the end of the phone did his thing while i turnrd the modem off switched it back on etc.. Still no internet. 'in dat case sirrrr, ve vill to send rrrround a technician to look at your mordem'. Thanks, great thankyou very much! Have to say although i had difficulty in understanding him, he was quite helpful and thanked me for my patience and cooperation.
Well the technichian came round today, checked the modem, nothing. Checked the exchange at the end of the road, nothing. Checked and even bigger exchange about 10 mins away, nothing. Called the block exchange and asked them to do some elecrikery, nothing. Looked at a hole in the ground and he found the problem. 'we gotta lay a new cable'.
So virgin media are going to dig up the road at the end of the month and lay a new cable for me!
Ill get some nice pics, i just find this incredibly amusing cos no one else in my road seems to have this problem and they are going to dig up the road for 3 students who wont be there in a months time!

Re: Anyone using virgin media?
I/we've had a few problems with them. they once just turned off the internet to fix problems but failed to inform their customers until you rang up to ask? They also mess the bills up a lot and I find it hard trying to talk to someone who sounds like an exagerated version of Apu from the Simpsons with a limited knowledge of the English language.
Also their TV package is pretty lame, but at the end of the day I'd rather give my money to the Virgin name(actually I'd rather burn it)than give anything to that anti-monarchist antipodean prick Murdoch.
