check out the buyers guide on the main site after all the 750 is the 400s bigger brother, but don't expect to throw it round like the 400, the 750 is a lot heavier.great looking bikes tho'

i passed my test back in '96 and am 29 now,
ive ridden a fair selection of bikes
despatched round london, and nationwide for about 3-4 years (on a ZX-4!)
done a couple of trackdays
Bikes for me are about tear-arsing about, perfecting lines, hitting the limiter in every gear.. doing that on a bigger bike will get you banned/dead.
I dont want a tourer, or something with "midrange" .. if i want to cruise, or carry shopping, or commute when its raining/cold, sorry, i'll take the car.
i havent ridden anything that feels quite as nimble and stable at the same time as a well setup zxr400.
I have an irrational hatred of honda's, so that counts out the nc30/45 and the cbr400's, the gsxr400 looks dated and is a bitch to setup.. quite fancy an FZR-3TJ, but suspension is soft, and ive been too busy playing with ZXR's to get round to getting one.
it occurred to me recently, ive actually owned every version of the zxr over the last 10 years.. (if you don't count the supposed differences on the L-9)
ZX-4 x2
ZXR400-H1 x1
ZXR400-H2 x1
ZXR400-L x2 (one with 600 engine)

I'm back again, looking for another ZXR400 H2 - they are only one I like.
I've just had the worst 4 weeks of my 7 years in motorcycling.
On the 1st April, I was taken out on the CBR - car driver didn't look before executing a sharp right turn on a dual carriageway, the CBR was written off.
Got a courtesy bike, 07 plate Bandit, mint bike, very impressed, a week later, stopped at traffic lights, rear ended by a car driver who didn't see the lights were on red or me!
Got my insurance money and got a YZF750, two weeks (3rd May) later doing 25mph down a residential street, touched front brake, bike went straight down. Insurance company have just written that off.
So getting my money next week and I am going back to the ZXR400 - going to get another H2 in Green / White / Blue colour scheme. Can't wait, I've never really forgiven myself for selling it, the best handling bike I ever had.
Also going on an Advanced Rider Course as my confidence is pretty much at zero at the moment, but I am determined to get back on two wheels.

I am 28 now (the years have flown past!!)
and I did my test when I was 21, and went from a TZR125 belgarda to a ZXR400, which I used almost daily until I was 25, then got a 05 ZX636 (I badly wanted a CBR600, but the Honda dealership wouldn't let me test ride it, being a girl and on a 13 year old bike!!) Then after 2 years I got an 07 ZX6r brand new, and I still have that, it's great. But all the time I've had my 400 in my Ex's garage in differing states of repair and running order. I've always had 2 bikes, as I didn't do my car test till I was 23. So my other bikes (basically, my winter hack list) includes
KMX200 (Ah, fantastic bike!!
SRX400 (gorgeous little bike!!)
ER5 (so sensible. Unless you stick renthals, micron end can on and a SP1 rear end on it and jack it up. lol.)
Aprilia RS250 (spent more time being rebuilt tan on the road)
C90 stepthrough (Bubba, still going, gave it to a mate for free.)
CRM250 (Awesome bike for learning tricks , just bounced when I highsided and looped it, and dropped it and went over the handlebars trying stoppies.)
and now have recently bought a brand new 2009 ER6N. Try one. It's great. And so is the insurance cost. Handling-wise, it's what I remember the 400 being like. The cornering is really flickable. And the exhaust keeps the rear tyre heated up nicely.
The bigger bikes do take you on the straight at top end speed, but I have beaten the fat guy on his 1995 blade off the lights every morning this week. At the petrol station, he was really impressed with it. Considering that blade was legendary acceleration in its time...
