Front left rngine mount

Post by wonderpupp »

I have been trying to get the engine out, all WD40d upbut the front left engine mount wont undo, my Beta socket has got the better of it and rounded it off, after doing about a turn and a half.

It's a pretty long bolt too.

Any suggestions?
I want - no, no - NEED to get this lump out his weekend!!

It might be possible to use a Dremmel with a little cutting disc to split the nut

Either that or drill the head off the bolt and push it through.............this won't be easy

Are you sure you used the right sized scocket cos thats a big bolt and I'm amazed that it has rounded off

drill the bolt. if u can drill the shaft and break it in 2 its good. huge drill bit to take bolt head off. smack a smaller socket over it with a lump hammer.

is it an 'allen' (hex) socket?........if so you might be able to bang a 'multi spline' or 'torx' socket into it or you can get special sockets for rounded off bolts that you bang over the top of them and they grip into them when your undoing it.
just some ideas

Drill the center and use a large easyout that you can loan from someone....

yeah, it was the right socket, it was just so stuck in. I got the other one off ok, using a bit of scaffold pole to help with the leverage to undo it, but this one started turning, but the back end wasn't moving. /then a sudden movement, Nice bit o' smoke out of the bung and it was rounded off. So I think it's started to shear.

Yeah!! I can use my Dremel!!
Hurrah!!
Only thing is, it's got to get through a bit of crash bung too. Lol.
