Re: Headlight bulbs

Re: Headlight bulbs
I've cut the tabs off my bulbs but the pattern is all over the place. With an MOT coming up I'm on the hunt for the proper fitting bulbs and will report back if I find some! Quite fancy HIDs but don't fancy chopping bits off them.

They are P43T 12v60/35w, when i bought the pair from a place online (still cant find the receipt!) it was £16 for the pair. WEMOTO do the bulbs for £11.50 each.mongo wrote:They ZXR 400 takes H3 or H7 bulbs i think, cant remember off the top of my head. They were expensive because of the 35w/60w fitment they were supposed to be.
But yeah the H4's will go in fine if you cut the tabs and they are held in place by the metal clip.... The bike can run fine with the uprated wattage of normal H4's anyway so long as you have a decent battery.
P43T 12v60/35w is the correct bulbs to use in the bike.

Re: Headlight bulbs
That's a little disheartening, Rob.
I've heard reports far and wide that all state the Nightbreakers are pretty much the top option to go for.
Do let us know if you find an electrical fault causing them to blow, as I think I'll be pushing a set into my light before too long, so I'd like to be sure it's a pertinent move doing so, and they aren't going to immediately explode on me...
Though that said, I've just ordered a set of the same bulbs you did originally, the 6.99 ones, before thinking to check this thread, simply on the basis that they looked good and bright in Marshy's bike as he was following me earlier.

Re: Headlight bulbs
Strangely it was high beam that blew, which i hardly ever use so maybe i just got the 1 in 1000 that just arent quite right. Gonna get some put in next month when i get paid and just before the MOT. Too much payout this month with doing the cam chain and head gasket.

Re: Headlight bulbs
Remind me, it's not arranged as a double bulb, one for dipped, and one for high, they are both for both, is that correct?

Re: Headlight bulbs
Thought so - so it's not like it's just one for each.
Well, yeah, let us know what you find, Rob.

Re: Headlight bulbs
Did we ever get a definite answer for this? The lights on my ZXR are a bit pants, especially riding down dark unlit lanes I can't see as much as I'd like to! I'm used to a 106 GTI with main beam and driving lights but still I'm sure the bike could be better.
I was gonna just go to Halfords and get some of their Rally Bright bulbs or something, but with all this talk of chopping H4 tags down I'm not so sure. I've got a UK model headlight so surely a normal UK spec H4 bulb should fit? Is there a specific motorcycle fitment? Because Halfords have two bulb sections, one for cars and one for bikes.
Btw I only buy bulbs from Halfords because they're super cheap on a trade card!

Re: Headlight bulbs
Well the simple answer is that you can only get them from kawasaki, and the bulbs they use across the range are all the same i think, with the possible exception of the H model?? But as youve read, you can fit the H4's, you can bend the tags instead of cutting them too.

Re: Headlight bulbs
For reference, the bulbs I bought on EBay lasted one evening in my bike before I pulled them out and put the others back in. Nice colour, but awful spread of light and not very bright.
