I'm back........

Post by SOILZX »

Well, after a month or so of trying to work out whether i should have another road bike and my insurance company refusing salvage retention on my B1H, i have decided to fill the bike shaped void in my life!! Still haven't found a new job yet, but i couldn't be happier at the minute.
So, i went and looked at a bike this morning and it looks tidy enough, seems like a good buy. Have agreed to pick it up later in the week, so it can have fresh MOT and Tax. So i'm effectively the proud owner of a j reg ZXR 400 (L1?), just need to go and buy a new lid now as my old Shoei has a few battle scars.

Went and picked up the bike today, wow i forgot how small they were!! Seems so weird going back to 1 after the B1H. It's not perfect, but it'll do for now, i'll get some pics up when ive had chance to wash and polish it.

Heres a few pics of the bike. Done a couple of hundred miles on it now and i've loved every one of them. It's coming off the road after this weekend so i can get to work with a few mods i have planned for it. The colour is getting changed, i'm not a massive fan of it's current scheme, anybody got any colour ideas? Not white though, as there's 1 or 2 on here already.

I drive a volvo, strangely. Well, its my girlfriends anyway.

My first ZXR used to be that colour, it grew on me but when i fell off it i had the panels redone but without the decals except the tank, that one stayed; and it looked alot better. Ill post a piccie up when im on my own computer, see what you think.

Mmmmmmm, loving the look of the Hayate bike, that colour scheme is definately on the short list.

Got work started on the bike today, just started taking a few things off to see what bits i'm going to replace and which bits are just getting a freshen up.
I think i've narrowed the colour scheme down to Hayate replica(ish) or Orange, with a small amount of Satin Black (zx10 style), still looking at other options, but realy seem to find anything else that grabs my attention.

With hayate, you wont have to powderoat your frame and swinger.

and you can get a full sticker kit off ebay for £20-40.

Rob, tht colour scheme looks pretty good to be fair, better than i was expecting!! Thats certainly an option i reckon.
Wonderpup, the only reason i haven't taken the tank off yet is, when i first started, i wanted to see what state the subframe was in, so decide whether it needed a repaint or not, then on Tuesday i had a problem with my knee, so am back crutches again now and as the tank is pretty much full, i couldn't lift it on my own! I wanted to get abit more done before the weekend, so i took subframe off first. Local Honda centre has tank siphoner doohicky, so will borrow that and get tank off later today.
It's slowly getting there and am now running out of space in the garge to put things, so i think alot of stuff is going to be finding it's way into my bedroom, but shhhhhhh, don't tell me mam, she'll go apeshit!!!! lol

Bit of an update, been trying to decide what to do with the rear shock. Have been looking for an sp shock for a while, but can't find 1 anywhere. So i decided i would scour ebay and see what i could find and I managed to bag a gixxer 750 K9 rear shock for £85 delivered. I've used the zxr height adjuster for now and it's gone straight on, although it's only got some tempary bolts init, till i get some proper 1's sorted, just wanted to make sure everything was ok 1st. The bracket on the subframe (the one with the locating whole for the battery tray) is in the way of the piggy back preload unit, can anyone see a problm if i cut it off and move it further back?? Slowly getting some more bits together, have got a pair of mirrors off a zx6r j2 to go on aswell and a single seat unit aswell (cheers Davw!!).
Still alot of work todo, but it's getting there slowly.
