new build from the bearings up. new paint scheme as white has brought me nothing but bad luck this year!
best of all, proper sorted suspension for this one! :smt001

Bright yellow is a good crash free colour :smt002

I've far too much to build refresh and repair to even think about it

I am also riding through the winter. Have done every year since I was born (give or take 17 years). I grew up in scotland and once rode a CX500 30 miles home from edinburgh in a blizzard with snow 2 foot deep. For the sake of passing on knowledge, if you ever have to do it, find an HGV! follow at 15 feet behind in its wheeltrack and hope to f**k that he's delivering to your house LOL. I got within 200 yards of my house before dropping it. 29.995 miles of the most skillful riding I've ever done!

zxr400 is the perfect ice bike. Its so light. just stick yer legs out and turn it into a snowmobile!

RIde safe.

I have taken to cycling my mountain bike into work along the country paths (only 3.5 - 4 miles) Somewhat slidey, but manageable.

It's got to the stage that although I have a car, I really can't be bothered to scrape all the ice off it, only to sit in a traffic que for 30 mins, when I can cycle it.

Bad thing though: The water froze my bike and I was stuck in a low gear and my brakes froze so I couldn't stop without putting my foot on the back tyre. That was fun.

So even in cold weather, on two wheels, just no engine this year. Lol.

Er6n and ZX6r tucked under their covers, with daily startings to keep them all lovely, and so I can listen to them purr.

80% engine damage is done on cold starts

Unless you get the bikes hot enough to cycle the cooling fan twice you'll not remove condensation from the oil and exhaust system as the bike will not have gotten hot enough to do so.

I've left my bike for 12 weeks with doing sod all to it and it fired up after a couple of turns. If your garage / shed or back garden is dropping below zero every day remove the batteries and keep them in a stable environment - usually a closet works well.

Drain the float bowls using the drain off's - don't just run your bike till it konks out - there's still fuel in them just not enough to get the bike to catch.

But in all honesty - don't start your bike every day with out taking it around the block a few times and getting it up to running temp's, your not doing them any favours.

If your starting bikes and keeping stationary then also have them upright and not on side stands, that way you'll ensure the oil pump is getting maximum amount of oil to pump up to the top gallery. Let them run until you hear the fan come on a 2nd time then switch off, every week should be more than sufficient to keep them in running condition.

My ZRX has now sat for 3 weeks and tomorrow I'll consider hauling it out and firing it up on the paddock stand then take it round the block a few times but then I might just leave it for another week :smt005
Nothing worse than having an H and not being able to scratch it !
