Eh up lads.

Post by Brett »

Just thought I'd say hello to you all, it's been a while.
Finally back on the road. Just paid 1600 for a 98 zx9r. It's in mint condition and goes like stink, tbh it scared the hell out of me.

Have I missed anything?

Welcome back, and a fine choice of motorbicycle you have there, Sir! :smt002 :smt003

Make sure you give the calipers a good clean every few months if you've still got the 6-pots on there because they're right buggers and WILL stick and warp the discs...

Thamks Jamz.
Any suggestions to stop the down pipes rusting? They have just started to go?

Get stainless ones! :smt002 You could try somethring them in ACF50, but downpipes mostly rust from the inside outwards, so by the time you see it they're fkd!

One other essential thing for the C models is to take the gear lever mechanism apart every so often and grease it where the gear rod joins onto the footrest. It's thought this simple thing stops all the issues with 3rd gear dying and killing the rest of the box in a very expensive way. There's a 'How To Guide' on www.zx-9r.net
