Got a 1993 VW Polo today with only 20thou on the clock! Will it make it....?unlikely.

interesting mate didn't realise it was a yearly rally? my mate did it last year on his cbr1000
Don't forget people there is more to the zxr400 than this forum... check out www.zxrworld.co.uk also.

im not sure i could handle 10,000 miles on a bike especially across some of the terrain in kazaksthan and monoglia!
still an ancient hatchback isnt gna be much more comfortable

sounds like a laugh .. did the banjul one a few years back ... its quite easy in a car tbh ... stereo on, nice seats,,, wasn't really a challenge till I re-shaped the roof and lost the windscreen

haha nice one. I cant wait til the headgasket goes in the middle of the gobi desert, gna be a right laugh!
On another note got the zxr out of the garage today after its been in hibernation for the last 5 months. Charged the battery overnight, whacked it back in and it fired up second time. Running just like I left it back in october-ish but gotta wait for a sunny day to really blow the cobwebs out.

the actual mongol rally is done in <1.2l cars and 125cc bikes or 250 if youre going two up.
tdr 125 is the way to go i reckon.
gonna do it some year hopefully.

well our polo is 1.0L and produces a whopping 45bhp! (back in 1993 though...prob lost some ponies along the way)

WE MADE IT TO ULAN BUTAR!
(but unfortunately the Polo died 600km from the mongolia border)...
Still we bought old russian 400cc bikes and tried to make it across the Gobi!!....
(one of them died shortly into the adventure)...but still was epic
