Re: Flooding all over the country
A lot of Redditch companies are sending employees home now - from the Town Hall right in the centre, to Komatsu on the opposite side.
I'm a temp so I'll be here until the end...
Can't be worse than the 6" of snow I rode home in back in January!

Re: Flooding all over the country
I hear cows contribute a much larger pecentage of CO2 than humans, how true that is i dont know, i think another one to say goodbye to is aeroplanes, i believe they are the largest human contribution to CO2. F1 racing is too, in one race one car produces as much CO2 in 1 hour and 30 minutes as a family car does in one year. but they are possibly going to bio fuel next year so they are doing something about it.
In my life time there have been some proper scorchers of summers, was it last year or the year before we reached the highest recorded temperature ever?

Re: Flooding all over the country
I made it home on my second attempt!
I tried going the lanes way from Redditch to Alvechurch, for some unknown reason.
When I saw a articulated lorry stranded in about 4ft of water I decided to try a different way, so went back to the main roads...
It was up to the car windows passed Abbey Stadium, but my other choices were more country lanes, or a huge detour to the motorways, so after waiting until the best opportunity, I went for it!
Bikes are surprisingly good even in really deep floodwater - this was the deepest by far that I've been through - as long as you keep it as straight as you can.
The problem with this fkr were the odd car coming the opposite way sending tsunami's towards me, and the natural waves sweeping across the roads! (as you do)
Other than wet feet and a slight woble when a wave hit the nose fairing at a side angle, there were no real drama's, to be honest!
My calipers which were already starting to bind are in shitstate now though...
So this year I've ridden in 6" of snow and at least 2ft of water. On a sportsbike.
Give me a reason why people buy big gay trailbikes again???

Re: Flooding all over the country
hi, its different for me, cause i cant leave cause the night shift guard aint come in, he broke down withen 2 miles of his house, he does drive a rover metro though, i think the small cars are going to suffer this weather, im just wondering in the weekend guard can get here at 0600 tomorrow, cause if not i will be on a 36 hour straight shift, by which time i will demand double pay from the company !, so then this is my first 24 hour shift, been awake since 0500 so i let you know how it feels lol tomorrow,

Re: Flooding all over the country
That's toad, that is!
I did 2 years as a Security 'Guard', most of it with The Watch doing a rotaing 12 hour shift pattern with 2 others. If any of us couldn't make it in there's no way they'd have made us do double shifts!
I've done a few hours over sometimes, but they had roving patrol officers who would take over in an emergency.
I can't believe they can't at least take another bloke off a site with more than one person there?
I'd be livid. :smt013

Re: Flooding all over the country
well the security firm i work for is stood still, we got a patrol car that started at 6 pm, her first job is to go to the crown prosecution service and lock it up, it is in driotwichm well she couldnt get out of redditch to get there, so nothing is moving, in my company, im just fucking stuck, and u know what, im going to bed about 9 and i shall set my alarm for 6 am and hope the flood has gone, because if not the weekend guard comes from redditch, and i doubt he will make it, like i say i might be looking at 3 shifts straight yet, and ofcourse im livid, i only got weekends off, i needed to go to town tomorrow to pay for my insurance for my holiday next week, i need to get my suitcase sorted i need to buy holiday stuff, etc etc, and now its all fecked up, because monday i have to work then tuesday fly, damn man, i hope it aint still flooding by tuesday, there probably close the airports down !!!!! ,

I read somewhere that what were calling "global warming" has happned before and it did cause a ice age. It was a natural occurence back then, unless we just forgot all the technology. and we don't want to get rid of aeroplanes or im out a job

our technology isnt the main culprit at all, as some people know, cows are the biggest culprit, so we all should eat more beef !,Bozzie wrote:I read somewhere that what were calling "global warming" has happned before and it did cause a ice age. Re: Flooding all over the country
Well after doing my 24 hour shift, i headed back home from, Evesham to Redditch, man what a sight at 0600 saturday morning, the rivers were wide, fields looked like huge lakes, cars abandoned, then to top it off, the m5 was closed and i went past a a couple mile long of cars and caravans, i was thinking silly people, they knew it flooded the night before, and yet there trying to get on there holidays, all they were doing was adding more to the traffic jams,

Re: Flooding all over the country
well i had no problem getting home, some of the roads were flooded and cars were turning round to go the other way. i plowed in figers crossed, water coming up in waves over the bonet, my 1995 vauxhall frontera looking more like a boat than a car! she finaly manged to push her way though and i manged to carry on home with almost 0 trafic
got home and doned my crosser gear and went puddel hopping! oh what fun to be had!!
