had a conversation about tyre pressures yesterday and a lot of the consesus was Jamz is right with the 36f 42r so i checked mine last night (for the first time ever i think) 15psi front 22psi rear. oops guess i need some air then.

don't be lazy guys it takes 2 mins to check your pressure, i'm the first to admit i'm the lazyiest but from now on i'm gonna check em weekly.

Yup, totally!

I think it's probably to deal with carrying a pillion passenger, and so it's the best compromise to take the weight.

also depends on the bike, manual for my gixer states 33 front 36 rear which is what i've put them up to but that is for a std bike, obviously mine weighs considerably less so its trial and error.

i use 33f, 36r on 090's slightly higher with ZR rated tyres.. just tweak em till it feels right, an under inflated front will make the front feel like its trying to "tuck", under inflated rear will weave about ..

Emma (other half) has been known to ride around on 14psi, but she's mad.

i while back i had a rear tyre fitted by a local shop, thinking they would fit it and actually do the pressures i did'nt check...after going for a ride out with my other half, i was complaining of crap handling, he checked the pressures and i was running on 40 rear and 18 front!!!! was proper hard work...in end put them to 32f and 36r and now seem fine :smt001

It's said quite often that most tyre fitting places will just put enough air in the tyre to get it fitted in the rim, and it's always worth checking the pressures afterwards.

I know all this, and used to be big on it all... so why have I stopped doing it in the last few years??? :smt017

I run 32f 36r as in the book. You can definatley tell when they're a few psi down.

Use a proper tyre pressure tester don't rely on the guage on the pump.

has anyone used them indicators that screw on your valves? have heard they can let the air out but surely they wouldn't sell them if they were dangerous.

I thought that was the TyreFly light thingies?

When you got to a certain speed they were pressing against the valve release, or something - most likely the same problem.
