Roland, meet Jaws. Jaws, meet- OH MY GOD!!!

Post by Jamz »

So this morning I'm going through the usual ritual of rushing to get the bike ready for work, when I walked around the front to feel a squish under my right boot.

Eww! It felt too big to be a slug, so, fearing dogshit all over my £200 Sidi Vertebra Race Evo II boots, I looked down and was surprised to see this:

Yup - having only spoken about Roland the other day in a blog, here he was.

Well, that's if this even is a rat? It might be a small one, but it's smaller than your average Roland, and bigger than your average mouse. For the sake of this, it's a rat, anyway.

Luckily, although still squidgy, Roland hadn't ejected his guts everywhere under my dainty stomp. Nor was there as much blood as you may imagine.

Then again, you might see from the pic that there's a big gaping hole from the back of it's head through most of his ribcage. Take another look.

I'm assuming the wasp in the pic didn't come as standard on this model Roland, and was an aftermarket extra.

I toe-poked the fallen creature respectfully out of the path of my bike, and was pleased that he landed right next to the main path, where this picture was taken. I'm a bit like a cat, in that I like to display my handiwork for all to see.

But what did kill Roland?

The foxes around here wouldn't have left that much, even if he tasted like fart-on-toast.

Much the same as the local cats and dogs, I should imagine?

Could it have been another Roland? The wound seems a bit rodentish - but usually they'd have a good gnaw on the brain (I have first hand experience of being scared for life seeing my gerbil eat the face of my brothers gerbil when I was young).

So is it a single chomp wound?

Jaws? Well not much seemed to kill the bugger! Perhaps he's adapted and is now on land?

Or was the little fkr joyriding on my bike and came a cropper?

That'll teach him to wear a helmet next time!

Ah well, ride free little bike-joyriding jaws-chomped Roland dude!
