anyone know if there is a set distance how far a number plate and light can be under a seat unit? and how do i go about getting a daytime mot?
anything is possible with enough time and money. and an open mind...

To the first question. I don't know. Why? I suspect it is ok so long as it is visible from the rear and not so far under that it's at risk of hitting the wheel - ie you aren't taking the piss.

To the second, I'm led to believe that there is no such thing as a "Daylight MOT" any more. If you take a vehicle without lights for an MOT, they will issue you with a normal MOT, plus an advisory notice to the effect that you have no lights.

If you look at http://www.ukmot.com you will see a number of sections which look like this...
This inspection applies to: all machines, except those which have neither front nor rear position lamps, or have such lamps permanently disconnected, painted over or masked that are
. only used during daylight hours, and
. not used at times of seriously reduced visibility

If this situation occurs the machine presenter should be issued with an advisory notice recording the above and it should also be recorded on the carbon copy of the VT20.
So you need to have removed or otherwise rendered inoperable all lights (including brake lights, indicators, etc).

I've never tried this, so I'd recommend you actually go and have a chat with your MOT tester, who should be in a much better position than me to tell you exactly what he'll let you get away with.

just wondered because i wanted to put a rece faring on it but wanted the number plate and light on a bracket similar to a r6. ive got a few plans for it,but its just the legal side of it im not sure about.
anything is possible with enough time and money. and an open mind...
