What Can I Do???
On Thursday 9th December i took my ZXR into Knotts of Redditch for an initial estimate of work needed, telling them i was on a highly limited budget and to only do the minimum. It should also be said that i'd asked them for a courtesy bike as this is my only form or transport and was refused.
They called back in the afternoon saying they'd send away my alternator to be re-wound, on the Monday, to possibly have it back by the end of the following week.
So i called up at the end of the week and was told it wasn't back yet, as i was told several times the following week. At this point i AGAIN asked for a courtesy bike, saying i had spent over £120 in taxi fares while they'd had my bike - and was again refused and pretty much told "tough".
The week before Xmas i was told that they couldn't contact the comnpany they'd sent my alternator to, and they may have broke up for Xmas. Still no chance of a courtesy bike then??? No. They'd have to chase it up in the New Year.
Well i still haven't heard back from them. I'm a temporary worker on an agency and unable to apply for a permanent position or many others because i need transport to do so. Even paying out for public transport to get to and from work will now be a struggle.
Should i phone them up and DEMAND a bike by tomorrow? What else can i do? They have the part so i can't even take my bike anywhere else!!!
ARGHHHH!!!!!

Ooooooh!!!! Brave words Baz!!!!
I won't use them again if i can possibly avoid it - and i shall advise anyone with a bike to avoid them too.
The bike also needs either an adjustment to the throttle cable at the carb, or possibly a new cable - i'm thinking about asking them to do this while it's there, if only to give them the chance to say "We'll do that for free for you, Sir".
I'm also toying with the idea of telling them i've posted it on several popular UK bike forums... Dunno if that would help or hinder though....

Yeah id be inclined to do it meself too mate. With all this hassle you seem to be having id rather do it meself anyway.
And why does it take them a flipping week??!! I could change a throttle cable in less than an hour!
Place where i have all me work done, they give the bike back for me to use untill the next job needs doing. Theres no reason why they have to keep ya bike a whole week Jamz, especially if they wont get to do the job in a weeks time. Get the bike back and do it yaself.
Go on, give it a go, and you'll feel liek a spanner monkey while ya at it

Tell the Company that you are not happy with the way you have been treated and you have written a letter to Trading Standards and their Head Office regarding this matter. (Even if you haven't) - (sorry don't know if Knotts have a Head Office??
) - you need to put in the letter the dates you were told you would have it back, the bad attitude of the staff-exactly what has been said to you.
I did this with the Car Finance Company i got my car from - i reeled off what i would be putting in to my letter and told them if nothing was done in seven days i would be taking it further - goodness knows where i was going to take it further too - but god they really bucked their ideas up.
Just a thought - hope it helps.
Hope it works out for you and make sure you are forceful and get what you want.
Kindest Regards, Kerry.xx

Well bugger me!! I called just before they closed and they've finished it!!!
They also said it still wasn't charging when they put the new alternator in, so they stripped down some of the loom and replaced some wires. Did they phone and tell/ask me about this?? No.
Will they give me some money off for the wait??? No, because it's my fault for bringing it in before Christmas!!! WTF??? Yeah - 2 and a half -ing weeks before!!!!
Grrrr.... What's the odds i'm gonna punch the fkr when i go to collect it tomorrow????
Oh, and he hadn't done the bill yet and had no idea how much it'd be - but the best i by way of compensation is he'll "do what he can for me".
Ever had the feeling someone was trying to stretch work out to pay for the quiet winter period???

Well whoopie -ing doo!!! There is once again a ZXR444 parked on my driveway!!!
2hrs labour, 2 throttle cables, re-coil generator and gasket - Total £169.50.
I was expecting a lot more, but i guess speaking very calmly and clearly on the phone and leaving lots of very long silences made them realise i was ready to murder them.
So after checking the bike over thoroughly and warming it up, i drove away down the road.....
THE -ING INDICATORS DON'T WORK!!!!!!
ARGHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!

LOL i am serious!!!
I was all calm in the shop and very proud of myself - i asked to go round the back and speak to the mechanics about what they'd done to the loom and everything.
After about 3 weeks of trying to sort out the electrics myself i know exactly where to look, and unless it's something i can tape or solder back up within a few mins i WILL be taking it back to Knotts tomorrow and demanding they fix it right there on the spot.
God i missed my ZXR though
that has to be the longest time i've EVER spent off a bike since i ever got on a bike for the first time!!! I've always had another bike i could ride while one was off the road...
I was actually more nervous today that i'd forgotten how to ride properly when i got back on it!!!
lol

Oh, and you CAN hit someone first legally and get away with it!!!
It's called a Pre-Emptive Strike.
The key wording is that you "felt afraid, threatened, and in fear of your life or wellbeing"
If they find out you've got over 19yrs experience of some of the most deadly martial arts behind you, they'll look at your reasoning a hell of a lot closer, though....

Had a look at this yesterday - yeah, they've tidied up the loom a bit, but the indicators weren't working - so i went straight for the Turn Signal Relay box.....
And found the orange wire (the one from the switchgear) was not only disconnected, as i suspected....
I can't even -ing SEE the damn thing!!!!!!
What the hell have they done with it???? Unless they've accidentally wrapped insulating tape around it with the rest of the loom, the only other thing is they've taken the fkr out - and if that's the case that punch is well overdue!!!
I've decided i'm not touching it, and will take it back to them for them to explain where exactly the wire is - no chance of me leaving it with them either - i want it looked at there and then.
-ing bunch of TITHEADS!!!!!
