recommend me a sport tourer

doing courier work on my zxr400 is taking a toll on me especially in town , as well as motorway wind. I decided to get a better suited bike for my purpose and specifically was looking into a vfr800 or a zzr600 . I don't know these bikes very well ( any input is welcome) or may be other types i could consider . In particular i do not like naked bikes( bandit,fazer,hornet etc.) as 50/60% of the miles i do are motorways so a faired and screened bike is a must and at least 600cc to be capable of all weathers and puling 300miles daily without falling to bits . Max. budget around 2.5k hope these will buy a decent bike ...so yeah recommend me a sport tourer pls thank you all

2.5k should get you a v good condition pre-vtec vfr800. Cant recommend it highly enough. Took mine round Europe last summer - 2800miles in 7 days - no problem. Great build quality and as reliable as they come

lol that's a naked bike ; if i get a job in the morning from London to Bristol then ride back (in poring rain) on a CBF then still have to work the rest of the day i will give up no CBF for me but thanks anyway for your thoughts

If you've got the money then VFR800 is probably the way to go - or get an older low-mileage 750 and run it into the ground because they had gear driven cams unlike the 800.

Ideally shaft drive is the way to go to really cut the costs, but a chain oiler will help.

VFR800 all the way still gets rave reviews and not a bad looking bike imo.

I've not meet a owner whos had a bad word to say about them tbh

I've made some research into the VFR'S and the more i read the more i want one . Apparently gear cams are from 2001models on so will be looking from '98 to late 2000 for a 800 (fuel injection, gear driven cams), but could not find any shaft drive , pre '98 are 750 gear drive cams ,but with carbs
Now ,any reason that i should go for fuel injection 800 or the 750 carbed? i tend to believe the 800FI will be more economical on mpg

you wont see much mpg difference, and if any id expect the 750 to be better due to lack of emissions control ect. The 800 engine is ment to be lovely to ride, best bet is to go ride them both the 3mpg difference really isnt going to be worth it if you dont enjoy riding it.

I think the more relevant difference between the late 750's and an early 800 will be the bigger tank size on an 800. I could be wrong...

Overall tank range is more important than the mileage you get from it, if you're going to be doing long runs (if that makes sense).

What you mean is although the bike uses more petrol that fact that you can go an extra 100 miles on the tank makes it worth it
