Halo Leathers - Anyone heard of them?

Post by Jamz »

...or who else makes decent quality leathers?

I'm looking to replace my Spyke suit and would happily buy Spyke again if I can find the fkrs, let alone find any to actually try on before I buy them!

After 130 miles of disappointment looking for other leathers, all I found was a Wolf suit that was 'ok', so I'm looking to some of the smaller custom leather people.

I stumbled onto a website for Halo leathers which look pretty damned good, but I can't find any info on them, and do I really want to give them £800?

Alternatively, I want to be spending around £700 ish, would prefer kangaroo leather, and want decent vents and pockets! Funky show-off armour on shoulders and stuff is an advantage, too. Colours are blue/black or black. And must be two-piece.

Leather shopping is an absolute barsket. :smt022

Halo, yes, I've got a set, very comfortable. I haven't crash tested them yet but they have been designed by a racer, Adam Kemp, who used to crash a lot. They can be made to measure, based in Billingshurst. Say Greville sent you :smt002

I really like my crowtree jobbies. They are a bit heavy, but ive been on my arrse, back, shoulders, etc.. a few times in them and there holding up better than great.
Im not sure if they are taking many orders now as they where semi retiring, but might be worth a call?
they will last a life time on the road!

actually, ive just looked for th ewebsite and its gone, so maybee they have too :smt009

My brother had a set of AS Supplies leathers, back in 2002.

He crashed beefcake (ZZR100 streetfighter thingy)whilst wheelying, then his aprilia RSVR over a car bonnet, looped the 350LC, slid off a TZR250 on track, had a few offs on his dynomite R1(including a spectacular wheelie into a ditch), highsided my ZX636 and they were still almost intact. He did have the butt re-done after the slide off though.
and they only cost him a couple hundered quid from a shop up in london. OK so they aren't made to measure, but for a cheap ass chinese built set of leathers, they did him good.

I can vouch for a set of Hein Gericke leathers, and get them adjusted to fit and new zips in. Wherever you go, gimme a shout cos I'm looking at a new 2 piece set and somewhere might do a discount for 2 sets of leathers.

Otherwise, wait till winter and scoop up a set of Dainese leathers from a shop for half price.

Cheers Jake, was having a great battle with young Danny Buchan and for the first time had got the better of him, but it doesn't show as his chain came off on the last lap.

I entered the Thunderbikesuk class and second lap was following someone who went up the back of someone else :smt013 , i had nowhere to go, hit him almost flat into paddock, went over bars and ended up in barrier. badly broken shoulder in 3 or 4 pieces and fractured ankle. I'll be out for rest of season now

Cheers Ballsout - I really like the look of them.... shocking THE LEATHERS I mean - not your balls!!! confuddled

Have yours got the fluid armour in them? I'm guessing you paid extra for the made to measure service, but if not, how long did your off the peg suit take to be delivered?

Jake - I saw on another site earlier this year that Crowtree are now no more... they would definitely have been on my short list to have a good look at.

Gotta be worth a go, eh, Wonderpupp! If you dont ask you don't get! I've never seen ANYTHING I liked at HG, though, so doubt I'll bother. Some of the BKS leathers look damned good, but even their cheaper suits would come in at £1000+ with extras like perforations etc...

If I can get some for £350 then that's great, but my budget is around £700 ish as it's replacing my old £900 set with an insurance payout!

I'm not sure wether he charges extra, but if you're a stanard ish size it will be quicker to get them. I'm a standard size. I also got the fluid armour but only use it in the shoulders at the moment, it's a phycological thing for me, it just seems like it's not going to work, but obviously does :smt002
ps, i wasn't wearing them in the crash mentoned above, I have'nt worn them in yet.

I got a 1 piece set from Fleabay last year for £20, collected them (50 mile round trip), maybe worn once by previous owner (I guess this is the advantage of being a lady - the decent race leathers are hardly worn. lol.) got the arms and legs shortened to fit, and tah-daah, perfect fitting leathers for £40.

They are mostly white and perforated, and are fookin cold on anything but a hot summers day. Lol.

The Wolf suits seemed pretty good to me!

I tried them on at Streetbike and they had a good fit. I got the insurance payout through this morning though, so I'm pretty sure I'll be going for the Halo Oracle suit:
