Old helmets - what do you do ?

Post by wonderpupp »

I have about 7 old helmets lying about, (not including the 2 i wear on a regular basis) in various forms of crashed or just got old and smelly

What do you do with your old lids?

I was thinking about making a nice display?

or this http://www.mini-itx.com/projects/itxhelmet/

Could this be another potential job for the Dremel..?

nice idea, would have looked better if he'd cut a slot in the visor. i got 1 old helmet i use em til they die and its under a load of crap in the cupboard, you never know when it may come in use?

The pansy answer is to donate them to the local fire or medical centre place so they can practise safe helmet removal when they find bikers lay in the ditch.

Or duct tape around the visor and come and see someone like me who'll teach you how to use the most devastating martial arts techniques to the head at full power. :smt002 Also good for knife techniques etc.

Personally, I think the second option is more likely to save your life.... but then I have already done my bit for charity this year. :wanker

I tend to keep em lying around the house like rene said i keep em for pillions, my mates all have different head sizes so i have one to fit everyone :p

Ive lost count of all the old helmets we've got lying round.
If it's broke spray it with WD40, if it's still broke spray it again and leave it over night, if it's still broke, bin it.

Nah, my head is a size XS and I don't know anyone else who fits my old helmets for pillion use, except my semi-dwarfed 8 year old cousin, who loves my bikes and weighs about 4 stone, so it's like not having a pillion and I can ride like normal. That's a lad who'll be riding bikes when he's old enough.

I just look at my helmets and think "Passed test in that one, paid £300 for that one, Rossi rep, that one, can't get rid of that.Crashed on ice with that one, brother highsided my ZX6R wearing that one (probably cos his head was wedged into the xs size), clubbed a bentley driver in the shoulder with that one - etc etc.

I really want to do that computer in a helmet, that would be amazing. When I get a chance I will definetly be doing that, I love building computers and would be something funky
