f*** that. Surely you can get aftermarket coolers for less than that?
http://www.aaronradiator.co.uk/pages/motorcycle.html - They have one there refurbed from a ZXR400 further down the page and can remake oil coolers from 200 quid.

Not surprised at all... but then I once looked for a rad for my L3...
It's not just a Kwak thing with rads, either. The problem with Ebay is you're just as likely to buy a holed one because unless they're breaking a brand new bike nobody ever gets rid of a good rad.
Worth the risk, though, because fk paying those prices.

yeah you could probably pick up a half decent 2nd hand rad and get it refurbed for less than a new one.

I really wanna keep it all Genuine Kwak parts, cos it will be worth a fortune in a couple of years if i keep it all stock. Gonna get the fairings resprayed in the same original maroon colour and maybe get the hammerite off the formerly mirrored polished rims.
But jesus, 800 smakkas
Used ones are rare on Ebay, loadsa H ones though. Can i use them?

iirc the 750 rad is the same as the 400's??? I've only ever read it somewhere so you'll have to check it out yourself!
A second hand on would still be kwack. And dont expect your bike to become a classic theres far to many of them around for that.

Agreed there are loadsa ZXR400's about, but there are very few that are in stock condition. Nearly everyone has boshed a race-can on it, power filter, diff rear shock, race screen etc etc.

Unfortunately, I don't think many people care, so I wouldn't get your hopes up over resale value...CaNsA wrote:Agreed there are loadsa ZXR400's about, but there are very few that are in stock condition. Nearly everyone has boshed a race-can on it, power filter, diff rear shock, race screen etc etc.
Even stock R7's are depreciating...

yep and there extramly rare bikes. Even once your bike gets to 40 years old i doubt it will be worth that much (well compaired to the cost of looking after it!)Jamz wrote:Unfortunately, I don't think many people care, so I wouldn't get your hopes up over resale value...CaNsA wrote:Agreed there are loadsa ZXR400's about, but there are very few that are in stock condition. People said the same thing about the old 2stroker trial bikes and they are going for uber high price now innit. And i read in a bike mag this month, cant remember which one, "If you have a 80's - early 90's superbike keep hold of it and dont change it. Un-modded ones will be worth their weight in gold in a few years time."
Hell, ill have some of that.

Well..... So far I've had 3 VFR750's - two from '88 and one from '93, and think they sold for a combined total of about £1000!CaNsA wrote:People said the same thing about the old 2stroker trial bikes and they are going for uber high price now innit. I actually bought a 1976 Suzuki TS250 scrambler for £300 a few years back and sold that for slightly less.
Not meaning to put you off, because it's good that people like you are around keeping these legends living, but I've never known any older bikes to make money. And looking at the prices of things like Nortons you'll probably have to keep a 90s sortsbike another 40 years before it will make it's original retail price....

When I was 17 (1997) I got a 1979 RD125 Air cooled Twin for £120 that had been in someone's shed for a few years
I cleaned out the carbs, fresh TTS and a squirt of WD40 here and there, and bingo, it went through the Mot for the princely sum of £50 (ish)
and I was riding for a year with £70 for my insurance on a "Classic" bike.
I sold it for about £250 altogether. But if I had kept it I could easily get £5-600 for it now, it was mint once I'd fnished with it.
Now you just don't find bikes in sheds anymore for a pittance like that. Not for my lack of trying.
the last one I found was a tatty kmx200 which was seized and the chap wanted £400 for it!!
Oh yeah, when I first picked up wakka to ride it home, the radiator blew after about 15 miles, so my brother took it back in the van and it had a brand new rad put on it before I picked it up the next week.
So it WAS a bargain. Yarrr.

i got an oil cooler from biketorque racing as i thought mine was knackered. there was probably nothing wrong with it (bike was overheating and i changed everything before i done the headgasket). its off a gsxr 750 or bandit 1200, cant remember now but it was only about 70 quid and works perfectly.
anything is possible with enough time and money. and an open mind...
