hi ive had my bike on the road now for about a month but iam having problems with it when i put it on the road a month ago i gave it a service with new iridium plugs and was running fine after about two weeks of useing it it started stalling when i stopped at juctions i would turn the tick over up a tad and at the next juction it would be reving at 3500 4000 revs would be hard to start when stalled and when i started it from cold would start but if i didnt keeps the revs up and let it stall it wouldnt start for ages so took the tank off and took the spark plugs out but they looked fine i put a wire brush over them as i had them out, put it back together and the bike ran fine again for about a week and a half now iam back to square one if anything i would say it is running lean by the look of the plugs. my question is what should the mixture screws be set at for a standered bike i want to give this ago before i take the carbs off and strip them down.
my bike is a h1 import with a 1989 zx4 engine in it with the zxrh1 carbs on it standered air filter, standerd downpipes with a viper end can cheers for any help

Re: setting up carbs
mixture should be 2 and 1/4 turns out from fully in. Dont rule out the plugs, even new ones can be faulty. Also i wouldnt have bothered with iridium plugs, not worth the extra money apparently and can give you additional running problems.
What do the plugs look like?
Could try a shot of redex in the tank to clear the fuel system out, cheap fix for a little £1 bottle if it works.
ooooo miseed the zx4 motor bit!

Re: setting up carbs
standard plugs are CR9EK's, but CR9E's will do the job and are much cheaper. The mixture screw is underneath in a small recessed tube just below the outlets of the carb.

Re: setting up carbs
Hey dont know if anyone one can help just a small question abdout the carbs and dont want to start yet another thread.
The space between the jubilee clip at the bottom in the manual says that it should be between 3-5mm. Does it matter if 2 of them are 3mm and the other 2 are at 5mm???
Should they all be the same or does it really matter?
