33mm FCR's - Bito R&D V's SP OEM

There was two definite differences between each of these carb's I was expecting:

1. No TPS


2. No Choke


and as suspected both these items are missing on the Bito set. However there are plenty other differences too

Lets start at the top,
Needle is held in place with an Allen key plug and not a flat head screwdriver type.

Needles are brass and not the coated aluminium ones in the SP's. (Different code as well)
Screw in billet inlets instead of cast


Throttle valves are stamped differently


No fuel rail by-pass line


Easy access for changing main jet


Kick ass decals


Kick ass MJ's


All jets are completely different , MJ is 50% larger in the Bito's


Anyone want a set of SP carb's - got to get myself a set of these puppies

There are several used sets available over the next few day's - PM me if you want to discuss prices etc.....

Bito's are about 184K delivered UK with 40mm inlet rubbers, mounting bolts, Vacuum blanks and throttle cables.

There will be a race report on this set very soon

Oh, and I found out why some people think they are 32mm - the carb's are D-32 bodies

Hello everybody,

I am the proud owner of one set of these beautiful pieces of work. Thanks to the Mori Man.

I enquired within this forum, about a month ago for a set of flatslides, and was put on to the Mori Man.

Like anyone, it's a bit un-nerving sending such a large sum of cash, hoping that you can trust the person at the other end to do what he says he'll do. Well, I'm here to tell you the Mori Man is the MAN. His customer service is of a VERY HIGH standard. He kept in contact with me every step of the way. He offered extra information and details, that I hadn't thought of. Probabley helps that he actually owns a ZXR400, and know what he's talking about.

My set had to be made up, so it took a few extra weeks of waiting, but well worth it. From the time they were sent, to the time I received them, it had only taken 3 business days. That's to Australia. (I'm just waiting on my mechanic (husband) to fit and tune them for me.)

I highly recommend the Mori Man's services to anyone and everyone, and I will definately use him again myself.

I heard from laurel that on the Dyno they ran perfect but under use she had a small clitch high up in the range - think it was 10 or 11K , so I suggested a few things to her but have never heard back.

She did finish 2nd in her class at the end of the season

My SP carb's are performing well and with another sudden temp' drop I'm needing to up the mains again. Just now they are returning 47MPG doing pretty much city driving (Does not mean I'm going slow either )

Got a set of the Bito brass needles for them but with current settings totally messed it up so will hunt out the list for the Bito carb's and order up the internals needed.

But happy to leave as is

Just a quick question, how do the SP carbs peform on the street as i've been offered a set of SP carbs 'cheap' but my ZXR's going to be mainly for street use. :/

The carbs on it are well past their best having been sat for nearly 8 years in stale fuel / water :/ and rather than just get a new set of standards i'm tempted on the SP ones. (FCR erm something )

Up the mains and PAJ's and away you go !

Remember SP carb's were always designed for street use , they have a choke circuit on them and in OEM form are jetted for airbox and standard exhaust system.

Oh they do have a choke I didn't realise the SP was a proper 'street' bike

My memories of FCR's were crappy cold starts and cracking the throttle too quick (bog bog bog bog, vrrrrom )

These might be the way to go then as my current L1 carbs have 90 mains and pilot jets that just wont clear :/ Thats what 8 years of stale gas will do for ya plus it opens up the whole 'tuning' route... that I can see i'll inveitably take.

If your friendly with a jeweller ask them to put them in their sonic bath - that brings them back to pristine condition.

Crappy FCR's are just crappy FCR tuners setting them up

There are a fair few standard bikes equipped with them from factories.

Not sure for UK as summer doesn't get that hot ( ) but here I need to do at least three main jet changes through the year , however running them in an airbox negates that need.

Summer = lean , Spring/Autumn = middle setting & Winter = Rich

Also recommend you get a high throttle kit (quick action) as these also help to stop the "bog" - if you do experience "bog" your just in the wrong gear
(Bog is usually caused by incorrect accelerator pump setting)
