Hi! I've changed the engine in my girlfriends 91 ZXR 400 with a 97 engine. This engine has a new hose connected to the engine wall underneath the carbs. It has a 0.5 cl bottle on it where you can see the cooling water flow. The hose should connect to somewhere I guess, but WHERE? Can someone please check their ZXR 400 to see where it should connect?
I'm considering blocking it off, but if it's a circulating water it aught not be a good thing to completely block it ff.
Can't find where to connect a cooling hose

Re: Can't find where to connect a cooling hose
The small hose coming from the back of the cylinder head on a 1997 engine should go to the carbs but I reckon your 1991 carbs do not have the fittings to do this.
You can just blank it off.
But be careful if you choose to completely remove the litle spiggot on the back of the cylinder head and replace it with a small bolt/screw............you would NOT want to pull the threads out of it.
If I was you I'd just plug the end of the hose or fold it back on itself and hold it in place with a cable tie.
There would normally be another pipe from the carbs that lead to the radiator pipe down near the water pump but your 1991 radiator pipe wont have this either.
Does that make sense ?
If need be I could show you pictures cos I have a L model that I've got in bits right now.

Thanks that's all I needed to hear I figured it was something for the carbs (cooling or antifreezing). I'll go ahead and plug it now! Thanks!

cut the pipe by the water pump and fit a t-piece and feed the carbs from this.

Re: Can't find where to connect a cooling hose
it'd be for the carb heaters mate as cargo says just blank it off.
Don't forget people there is more to the zxr400 than this forum... check out www.zxrworld.co.uk also.

Thats the return from the carbs back into the pump
The supply to the carbs is from the spiggot on the cylinder head.
Like I said blank it off
