Start up after rebuild

Hi lads just wondering is it normal for an engine to take a long time to start up after a full rebuil. finished mine off last night and tried it a few times and nothing out of it. this morning before work it made a few positive sounding caughs but not much... is it normal to take alot of turning over on first start up. Its prod turned a total of 5 mins so far

Could just be the carbs filling back up. I expect the battery will have taken a pasting after 5 mins of trying to start. Give it a good charge and get the plugs out to make sure they aren't flooded then try again.
