Ticking noise from engine
Was coming home last night at the slow pace (no more than 4000rpm) and the engine started making a ticking noise at 4000rpm it then started making it at 2000rpm was fine at 3000rpm, then started ticking at 3000rpm. I then got off and pushed it the rest of the way.
Are these craked cam covers?
(Images removed)
I've not taken the covers off yet, next step it to take the spark plug out and have a look at the valves with an endoscope

How would I know they were causing the problem (what would they look like if they were stuffed)
Taken the cams off and they dont seem to be any problems there or in the top of the engine. Just fired it up again and the noise seems to be coming from the bottom. Possibly like the starter motor not disengauging properly or the clutch falling apart possibly

Yes, altough it may have done a little, but there doesnt seem to be any damage to the head/valves/plugs or pistons.
I did just have it all in bits to do the head gasket about 3k miles ago so reading through the manuals to find out if I did something wrong.
Does the cam chain tensioner click when its fully extended? I think I read that somewhere. Obviously as it snapped it went slack and the tensioner took up most of it and probably saved my butt

yeah it works like a ratchet mechanism, so it extends as the guide wears and can't slacken back off.
