I'm still a bit unsure as to how to adjust the cam chain tensioner guys!

There isn't any real adjustment to be done.

The tensioner has a spring loaded ratchet arm that keeps pressure on the cam chain so you need to make sure that it still works. When you remove it should fully extend and in order to reset it you will need a vice (or similar) to compress it back down. If you can compress it buy hand the spring is knackered.

Worth noting that there is a ratchet on the extending arm which needs to be held in whilst you compress the spring.

If that’s working fine then check to see how far the tensioner extends when you put it back. If it fully extends (or as near as makes no difference) then the chain has had it and needs replacing.
