Cam Chain and Tensioner Replacement

Post by spaz »

I've got a ZXR400L2 and want to know how do replace the cam chain and tensioner and still keep everything timed properly?

the only manual I have is off this site and that tells me dick about replacing the cam chain and tensioner.

also, what are the numbers of the tensioner? I couldn't locate it on the microfiche as I don't know what it looks like.

Is there any website that has a step by step guide with photos aswell?

Cheers guys

Edit: The chain rattle goes away when I pull in the clutch, but it's getting louder in short space of time. I noticed a difference after 45 minutes riding that it sounded chunkier.

Doe this mean that all I have to do is reset the tensioner? How do I do that?

have you read both the H manual and the L manual?

Is the H more informative? I never thought of that. Figured it was all model specific, but obviously NOT.

Cheers mate

no mate the L manual is a just a supplement to the H manual, if you have a L model you need both manuals.
