heres my original post
hi i bought a f reg zxr 400 that had no anti freeze in it so frooze up and cracked the outer bores but would still start fine just water mixed in the oil. any way i bought a secound hand engine out of a f reg zx4 the same apart from no oil cooler on that model when i took the old engine out i labelled all the wires up so i would no where they would go back so today i put the secound hand engine in and no spark i have checked the wires and all is fine redone the earths and also changed the magneto and pick up off of the old engine but still no spark the bike itself has been well looked after with all its original conectors on the loom with no cuts or joins but no joy any one got any ideas cheers
i have some question about cdi units. i have taken my cdi unit off and tested it as it says in the manaul with an ohm meter, and i think it is faulty, the number on the unit is 21119-1271

like i said earlyer it is a zx4 engine in the bike now and on having a good look at it ive now found the roter wheel on the pickup senser is different, on the zx4 engine its got 3 small tegs and 1 long one and on the zxr400 engine i took out its got 8 small tegs. now i am looking for a cdi should i get the same as the original one or one off of a zx4 i have been offered one off of a zx4 1988 with the numbers

on it and a big letter M , i cant try this unit first as it is postage only do you think this one would work cheers for any help

only thing is then mate is will the zxr400 loom work with the zx4 cdi??
