CDI's

Post by richard.r6 »

hi people,
i hope someone can finally help me sort my bike before i take it all the way to a track to test and only to find out it wont open all the way up.
ive run it round my road but not being legal cant take it out.

the bike is a 1991 zxr400L. a good road bike that i brought of a friend to turn into a track bike.

i have removed the speado.
the cdi is a blue sticker with L

i have just brought a blue stickered cdi with M
after hearing that the M blue is uk derestricted.

will my bike now be de restricted, if not what else should i do.

Please please someone who knows what there talking about help.
im sure there are others who are slow to get all this so im sure any answers to this will help more than just me.

thanks

cdi with number ending 1332 is garunteed to be restriction free.

some say 1331 isnt de-restricted but my bike behaves the same with either fitted.

Can anyone confirm that changing an Import CDI to a UK CDI will remove the 185kph restriction?
I know that disconnecting the speedo will enforce a 10 000rpm limit. But logic says that a UK CDI will not look for this speedo signal. Is this right?
If so, I need to look for a 1332 right? (I have an L2)

Thanks

yes. the m box is restricted at 14,500.so even without the speedo it will be ok.
all the race bikes i've done have no speedo an m box and there's no problems.
