battery boiled dry

Post by zimm »

the ZX-4 has boiled its battery completely dry again, its done it a few times before, im thinking reg/rect but im getting weird voltage readings .. its normally within range (14.5ish V) but occasionally jumps to 16-18 .. loose connection or faulty unit ?

this happened on my gixer mate and it was the charging circuit wasn't working.
Don't forget people there is more to the zxr400 than this forum... check out www.zxrworld.co.uk also.

wiring loom is H1 with added circuit for the fuel gauge, so yeh, its a zxr unit..

filled the battery with water .. (tap.. yeh, i know, but i figure its shagged anyway it's boiled dry three times !) .. perfect readings, and starts on the button ...

think maybe the connections to the reg rec were getting soaked (its mounted right by the tail lights, in a really daft place) and causing temp failure as its ok now after a day to dry out ..
