Pillion seat doesn't seat right.

Post by MillaMeter »

Hi,

Since I've had my bike, the rear seat doesn't sit right. What I mean is the very back part of the rear seat doesn't sit nice and flush to the rear panels like 1's I've seen on here. Mine sort of sits a bit higher and every time I hit a bump in the road you can hear the latch banging and the seat moving. It's like the seat is too loose for the latch.

Anyone else got this problem?

I'll try and get some photos.

Regards

Rich

Does the seat rattle when you try to move it? May just be a worn latch or the latch isnt secured properly.

Hi,

Yeah it does exactly that! I can grab the very end of the seat and lift it up and down with lots of play even though the seat is still locked.

Would a new latch fix this problem? I got a spare 1 but I always thought it was the seat itself.

IDK

Havent had one on mine for a long time so cant even remember if it rattled, i dont think it did. Check the latch see if its all ok and isnt loose. A good tighten might just sort it. Failing that id stick some tin bits of rubber on the plastic bit that takes the weight on the subframe. It wont help the clearance issue but it should stop it rattling.

had this on my zxr400 mate, the seat was a different profile to another i had, i put it down to the grab rail that was on the back being pulled and deforming the seat itself.
Don't forget people there is more to the zxr400 than this forum... check out www.zxrworld.co.uk also.
