Sticky Rev's

Post by Miles »

Hello guys, When I started my zxr in the garage tonight it was producing white smoke and the rev's were sticky at 2-5'000 rpm then dropping. There doesn't appear to be any coolant leaks and the smoke starts being produced almost as soon as the engine starts.

When I put the in-let rubbers back on I tried to seal them abit with liquid gasket to help stop any air-leaks. I also sealed where the air-box meets the carb's. The hanging rev's would make me think it was a leak but the white smoke has me abit worried.

Any thoughts? I dont' think I could face taking her apart again as i'm so close to having her back on the road again vsad

Had a thought about this problem, thought maybe my butterfly valves are sticking ever so slightly and when they close they get stuck open for a few seconds until they fully close? Had a look and took a load of wd-40 to it but didn't see any dirt. Going to try an air compressor :smt017

have you tried pushing the hrottle stop down as fa as it goes? Is the idle adjusted roperly? Where are your air mixture screws set at? Carb clamps done up tightly?

Hey Cargo kindly payed me a vist and had a look over the bike for me. Tried lots of things which made the problem better but unfortuneatly didn't stop the rev's from sticking.

Whereabout's on the carb's are the fuel / Air mixture screws?

Also the bike run's fine (apart from the sticky rev's) when it's on the paddock stand but as soon as it's off, the bike barely runs and struggles to startand when it does it will only rev to 2k :smt017

oooer, the only thing that is changing is the angle of the bike so perhaps something with the floats? Air mixture screws are right underneath the carbs in little recesses.
