Choke is fine and moves freely.
Cant see any air leaks.
The carbs are totally standard and i have not touched any settings, the only problem is the bike has not had a good run in 5 years and was last started 18 months ago.

All i have done is stripped the carbs, cleaned all the crystallized petrol out, they are gleaming inside.

Well if it starts and idles, let it run for 5 or 10 mins to warm up first if you havent already. Then try reving it up. I had that with mine when i first got it going after 18 months, but once it had warmed up it was fine. Luckily i didnt have crystalised petrol as i emptied the carbs before the bike was laid up.

I did let it idle for 10 minutes, then if i opened the throttle slowly it revved all the way up.

If i opened the throttle quickly, it died instantly.

If i have the choke slightly on, i can rev it up quickly.

I'm nearly at the point of giving up and sticking it at the back of the shed for another 18 months. :smt009

have you looked at the mixture screws to see if there ok ?
and cleaned them and the carbs ?
if it dont idle as it should its normaly the mixture so could be the mixture screws need cleaning , replaced or adjusting its normaly two and a quarter turns anti clockwise for standard

Dont mean to sound thick but am i right n thinking the mixture screw is item 2 in the fuel system manual (called the Pilot Screw)?

I have had all this apart to clean so maybe i have put it back in the wrong position.
