Re: having some serious issues with my bike
sounds VERY OTT the bike ran just not quite right so no need to strip it down.

Re: having some serious issues with my bike
it wont need a strip down. just do the basics and troubleshoot it from the prob onwards and you will get the prob sorted

Re: having some serious issues with my bike
I don’t know what else to do I’ve change the plugs coils leads and caps. Fully striped the carbs down cleaned them out also cleaned out my tank filled it back up with clean fuel and it’s still the same. Could it be the wiring loom???

Re: having some serious issues with my bike
sounds like coils , or the loom. if its breaking down under load. if it idles let it do it then check plug colours etc. then clean em, rev it up for a while then check em again. etc. see which one is breaking down then troubleshoot from there

Re: having some serious issues with my bike
if it was loom then you wouldent be getting a strong 12v to the coils (take it you've checked this?)

Re: having some serious issues with my bike
i've checked the coils and i'm getting a good strong 12v's to them both.
I bet that it is the head gasket

Re: having some serious issues with my bike
well i'm no expert but i don't think that it's the carbs because i've strip em and cleaned em 3 times now?
i've put some new spitfire plug's in and some second hand coils/leads and caps
and i've also cleaned my tank out and put some new fuel in
and i've also got a new battery
My last thing to try is to get a second hand cdi unit and if that don't work then i think it will have to go to a mechanic to see if he can find out what is worng

Re: having some serious issues with my bike
man, you are nuts ..
its carbs .. guaranteed .. fuel pissing out is either your float heights are wrong, or a seal has gone so the pump is constantly flooding the carbs with fuel, ive had it happen on ooooh, 3 or 4 zxr's over the years. As it was ok before ... my guess as said before is a knackered O-ring in the carbs .. course you also say one of the diaphragms was oversized .. in which case , replace it .. dont cram it back in.
cdi box will not be it
nor coils
and splitfire/iridium/surface discharge plugs are a waste of time and money, infact they make cold starting harder and the engine easier to flood.
of course in that pic, it looks like you are missing an entire valve .. but im sure its a trick of the light.. you'd have noticed right ?
if you are really selling it to a mate for 100 quid, i'll give you £150 cash and pick it up this week.

Re: having some serious issues with my bike
did you get round to doing the compression test? i assume you have checked for a spark at each plug with the new coils? believe me i spent weeks trying to get a car to run right and eventually found out the new coil i put on was dead.
