Hi,
my 1993 ZXR won't start anymore when I apply the starter button. Upon doing so I hear a clicking
from the fuse box but the starter motor won't turn. When I shortcut the starter solenoid it starts immediately
I have replaced the following without avail:
- battery
- starter solenoid
- fusebox
- rectifier
Can anyone please give me a hint what to check next?
Thanks very much,
Charles

Re: bike won't start from the button
You have 3 possible starter lockouts, so make sure your stand is up, bike is in neutral and clutch is pulled in.
If you still get a clicking from your fusebox then the internal relay is dead, if the clicking is from the solenoid then that is dead.
As your bike is making noises, and I'm assuming if it fires up it stays on, I don't think it's a wiring issue.
When you said you replaced these items was it with 2nd hand, or brand new? As the fusebox is NLA for example so it's likely you got at least a 2nd hand one

Re: bike won't start from the button
Thanks banner for helping,
here my answers to your questions:
When I fitted either fusebox on my daughter's bike the bike starts, the fuse boxes don't click on her bike.
Fitted my parts on her bike: it still starts up with no problem at all.
Thanks again,
Charles
here my answers to your questions:
done, as always.
The clicking sound is from the fusebox. It's not dead though, when I fitted my daughter's ZXR fusebox it clicks too.
When I fitted either fusebox on my daughter's bike the bike starts, the fuse boxes don't click on her bike.
As soon as it fires up, it runs faultlessly and stays on.
Battery and solenoid are brand new, fuse box and rectifier came from my daughter's ZXR 400, which starts without any problem.

Thanks again,

Re: bike won't start from the button
ok, do you have continuity between the yellow/red wire from the fusebox to the starter solenoid?

Re: bike won't start from the button
no idea then bud other than a bad earth from the solenoid back to battery..., if all the bits you have removed are good, battery is good, and you are saying you have no wiring issues then it cant be anything else, unless your bike has been wired/loom chopped in an awful way...

Re: bike won't start from the button
Found the problem: starter switch was a little corroded and the starter motor was on its way out....
Thanks for your help, Banner!
