starts put rattles?

hi there went out to the bike this mornin and it fired without choke!
but there is a large tapping noise from up top
i had the head repaired and polished and new gaskets and chain and the timming was spot on checked oil is getting uptop and it is the head was totaly dry when i got it back but it wont stop rattling even when warm was fine beforw it was took apart :smt005 any ideas?

what did you have done to the head?

had the stud repaired and cleaned that was bout it

is your cam chain tensioner ok and in the right place, they have been known to snap or dislocate.
Don't forget people there is more to the zxr400 than this forum... check out www.zxrworld.co.uk also.

yer the timming all seemed fine and the tensioner did too

i know you said the top end but you sure its not the clutch? does it increase with the revs and get quieter or louder? etc etc

yer just rebuilt it it gets higher as you rev clutch is brand new souns like hydrolic tappets on a car

took the engine out checked the timing its all spot on the chain is well tensioned and the tensioner isnt maxed out any ideas?

think av found out what it is i never reset the tensioner so fingers xed the tensioner aint doin its job propper are they pricy to replace?

nah do the job yourself its simple enough. not sure on price tbh. cant see it being too much.

do you still have to use the wire on the l model tensioner

no wire. i reset the cam tensioner like this:
