bike wont fire up!!!!!!!!!!!!
ive been tryin to get bike runnin for a while now!!!
no joy!!
its been to the workshop and come back whilst i've been abroad.
the bike has sat there for about 4 months unused
so its not starting now
the mechanic said " change the feul over as it may hav "gone off"
so ive drained the tank
what's thea easiest way to drain the fuel from all the carbs??
im used to kx's and scramblers,
so its a bit of a step up for me!!
any help is gladly welcomed.
got my full DAS on 13th 14th 15th so i want to get runnin asap
i hav the tank off already (right now!)
so any pics or advice is great
thanks!

Re: bike wont fire up!!!!!!!!!!!!
i would take the carbs off and remove the float bowls see what state they are in inside the carbs.
Don't forget people there is more to the zxr400 than this forum... check out www.zxrworld.co.uk also.

Re: bike wont fire up!!!!!!!!!!!!
as above, but as for your question on the easiest way, undo the fuel drain screws.
There is one on each carb with a 2/3mm allen key head. Have something under each carb to catch the fuel as it comes out.
And it takes a while to fire up with new fuel as the float bowls have to be refilled.

Re: bike wont fire up!!!!!!!!!!!!
Few questions:-
1) Did the bike run before being stood for 4 months?
2) Have you charged the battery?
3) Have you checked you are getting sparks at the plugs
Easiest way to check all of this would be to remove the tank and hook up the fuel line temporarily (with the tank on a workbench or turned through 180deg and restingb on the seat), remove the air box and with the carbs facing you, squirt some Easy Start directly into each carb air intake (gently lift the airslide to ensure it gets to the intake). With fully charged battery you will get the engine to fire (assuming there is a spark). If engine doesnt fire then there is a problem with the sparks (or lack of)
good luck

Re: bike wont fire up!!!!!!!!!!!!
well it needed some tlc in the carbs was a bit mankky in there after this long.
got a new problem now though!
i was at a friends this weekend, went to take one of there boys for a spin round the crescent on the back....
but gettin to a point where i needed to turn around. i put the steering full lock to the right and all the ignition has cutt out! no lights, no starting, no oil-level lights,.. nothing!
i checked battery terminal connection, all the fuses incl. the big 30 on the solenoid! they are all sweet.
my alarm is runnin direct from battery ok!
may be something to do with cable snagging but the cabling to the ignition barrel seems ok, didnty really have tools at the time!
so my bikes in sum ruff estate, parked outside, chained to lamp post, shining like a massive beacon to bare lil' theivin hood rats!!!
i need to get it workin and moved from there asap!
any one got any ideas or had this problem before??!
