Idling at 5000rpm
Morning all. I've a 1990 H2 ZXR 750 (UK Model) Yesterday it started playing up and won't idle at less than 5000rpm. The throttle and choke both open/ close fully and nothing looks out of place. Has anyone any ideas as to what could cause this and a solution to the problem. Thanks Dougal667

have you had the carbs off the bike as i did this with my gixer and forgot to screw the throttle return back in, butterflies may look closed but possibly not.

Nope carbs haven't been off. Bike has been running as sweet as a nut since I got it 2 months ago, died a couple of times but that looks like the battery wasn't holdign a charge, new battery fitted and now this idling problem!!

Bike as it was when I took delivery of it. Done 3-4 hundres miles on it and all been ok, just started yesterday... Wonder if some sh*t has been picked up from bottom of tank and blocked or jammed something!!! Oh my mechanical knowledge of bike workings is limited... Learning curve has started!

Re: Idling at 5000rpm
more chance of there being an airleak somewhere than blockages i would have thought, if you had picked some toad up in the carbs then it would splutter more than anything?

Could be something as simple as stuck choke? Mind you I think the choke idles at 7k doesn't it? Can't remember, but it's bloody loud on a cold early morning!
