Hey guys just a couple of questions if anyone has some answers:
I was changing the spark plugs today and found that there was oil around the top of the HT leads and a little in and around the top of the rocker cover, any reasons why this might happen???
Also the RHS (if your on the bike) of the rocker cover gasket is covered in oil/grease and dirt. Will i need to get a new one or will it be fine?
Thanks

Re: Spark plugs and Rocker Cover
you will probably find the seals have gone around the plug holes on the rocker cover look hereand you'll see what i mean, also sounds like a new rocker cover gasket is needed or whip the cover off and put a bit of hermetite red around the joins.
Don't forget people there is more to the zxr400 than this forum... check out www.zxrworld.co.uk also.

Only in terms of its cosmetics, that oil from the spark plug wells will flow to the front of the engine, so nothing to worry about as it will just clean off.

They come out to the little holes in front of the head just below the exhaust ports don't they?RedexRobB wrote:Only in terms of its cosmetics, that oil from the spark plug wells will flow to the front of the engine, so nothing to worry about as it will just clean off.

Re: Spark plugs and Rocker Cover
you need to clean out the holes very thoroughky cos the oil that has seeped in in the past goes all gloopy and tarry, then gets hot and runny and dribbles again ..
so, um, yeh, they may not still be leaking, just .. well, you know what i mean
