big al newby

Post by Big Al »

hi all at zxr world. Recently joined after buying L3 uk spec from a mate of mine with 15k miles on the clock. Wanted to say big thankyou to all contributors past and present, your comments/info/tech has been a great help to me. The bike was in poor shape (dirty girl) and required complete strip/clean and rebuild (especially brakes and rear linkage) and many new parts. However under all that crud the bike was in great condition and thankfully previous owners had kept serviced at main dealers (not sure if that is a good or bad thing!)so no rattles from engine. When i get a chance will post pics. Got to say that for only 65bhp goes great and love that screeeeeeeeaaaaaam! at the top end.

bad luck with all that work that was needed. mine was clean, but closer inspection revealed the usual cracked body work, missing o-rings, and a fair few bolt mysteriously having turned into zip-ties.

still, those are the 3 things i usually do to a bike anyway, so i guess it saved me the trouble!
I do 700 miles a week in all weathers including snow, that's roughly 35,000 miles a year, and some weekend warrior biker has the nerve to get out of his Audi at work to tell me to I was riding far too fast in the wet (over taking at 50... fast eh?).
