hi all!

Post by rene »

Hi, I’m a new poster here but not new to the forum I’ve been viewing for a few years now excellent site and lots of good info!

well 2 years ago I got my first ZXR400 L3 (aged 17) I spent about 6 months while I was 16 cleaning her up and getting her ready for the road as I brought her as a right off. Once I’d passed my test I road her for a year and loved it to bits amazing fun little bike! but after a crash, my fault enjoying a roundabout to much and hit some sand and the rest is history :( I sold her onto a friend and treated myself to a ZXR750 L1 a very nice and powerful bike in its self but I’ve still go that hole that needs filling from the 400. After reading Ed's zxr Blade :smt007 I really fancy giving it ago (was going to put a zx9r engine into my 750).

So my question to you kind people (and probably asked 100x times before) has anyone got a spec to building one of these beasts? What dos the mods to the frame looks like e.g. strengthening it? Making the engine mounts and were to put them?

Also dos the extra weight effect the suspension? What year engine out of the blade do I need? As from what I understand its changed many times over the years!

Any help would be most appreciated guys! Also a few pics of my bikes :)

When I got the 400 (notice cable ties lol) most of the damage was under the fairing need new brake disks callipers wiring loom ECU fuse box (you get the picture :smt017 )

hiya mate, i made the same mistake went from the 400 to the 750 and regretted it, it just don't cut it like the 400 does it.nice pics.
good luck with the conversion, see the build threads for a zx6 powered 400, you might pick up some tips from there.

must be why so many people on here buy a 750 and keep the 400!
In the garage:
Kawasaki ZXR400 L3 - shiny
Suzuki DR800 - bouncy
1978 Suzuki GS400 - PROJECT RETRO RACER!
Kawasaki GPz500S - for sale soon
Honda CG125 BR-J - in bits
