FFS. Can My Day Get Worse?

Yup. Go out to the ZZR and go down the hill sideways. Hell, great fun, a ***king nail in the tyre. wobble back home and put it away.

My new plugs came for the zxr so i thought i know, ill get her running. Nope. Nope and a big fucking no.

Then my beady one eye noticed summat. And upon further inspection i removed this ( see pic )from said beasty. i know what it is as im sure u all do. Easy job to fix etc but im hoping its just gone and it isnt the head or barrels cracked due to the freeze. Yup, i had no anti freeze in it. altho the filler and res cap were off so any expanding water could just blob out. ( i hope )

someone cheer me up and tell me summat good :)

o dear, seems a bit much for condensation but if i were you i'd get some cheap oil and do an oil change and see what happens, at least worse case scenario you only lost some cheap oil, if its ok then replace with better oil.

yea there is far too much water in there for it to be condensation. im getting back fires and what seems to be vapour locks etc so im gonna do the head gasket. check out the barrels too make sure they are ok. wont take long to do.

i got a new head gasket and twas only 12 quid from cradleys so cant complain. i must admit i do enjoy doin the head gasket. just as fucking well really.

Ok quick update. i tasted the oil that i drained and there was water AND fuel in it. any ideas as to how?

sounds like the head gaskets gone mate :smt003 along with your piston rings.

fuel's there cos you've been spinning it over and its not fired .. the excess will have seaped past the rings

cheers zimm. thats what i first thought. as i was getting lock up of the pistons i assumed that the seal on the rings was good. would the Head gasket have stopped it firing up? i know how to repair these things, just not the symptoms as such lol.

pour neat fuel into the combustion chamber it will always leak past the rings eventually, so i wouldnt be worrying about the rings per se ..

head gasket could cause it not to fire, depends where its blown, and how badly .. can certainly make them difficult to start from cold

hope you haven't cracked the block/head .. but i'd guess not... I froze our ZX-4 to minus 30'C whilst out in france when it had no anti-freeze in it, and all it did was snap the drive to the water pump when i went to start it not realising all the "coolant" had become solid ice ! .. it started first time btw.. lol

give me a ring once its stripped if you do need any engine bits, as i've got 3 blown/stripped engines here..

moving house this weekend so i wont be local after that though.

Ha hahahahahaha. yesterday didnt get any worse,but today has. im usually very clinical when fixing the bike. torque every nut etc , thread lock blah blah. I was VERY surprised when removing the head to find one loose head bolt, the ignition senson on the RHS was OFF. not loose but off. The block has a crack on the outside ( weldable im sure ) and loose bolts everywhere. cant fucking believe it. :smt013 :smt013 :smt013
