Hi all,
Trying to replace the clutch plates on my H1 and after having put all the new plates (steels and frictions) back in and bolting the cover + springs in the plates seem a bit loose. I can rock them back and forth a bit and it seems like I could almost get another plate in there. 6 frictions and 5 steels in there though, any ideas what I might be missing?
Cheers,
-Cront

Did you take the same number of each out?

Yeah, I'm thinking the steels might be the wrong thickness :/

Re: H1 Clutch fitting
Does anyone know the normal thickness for the steels? I'm wondering if someone has put an L model clutch assembly in this bike perhaps or if I was just sent the wrong steels.

Re: H1 Clutch fitting
no idea about thickness, but they are different part numbers in the microfiche.
the steels shouldnt wear down too much...thats the job of the friction plate, get a micrometer/vernier gauge and measure the two thicknesses between what you have bought and what you previously had.
or put new friction plates and old steels back in (depending on their condition)?

Yeah I would have just put the old steels back in but I just moved house and stupidly threw the old plates out thinking I was sorted with the new ones. Kicking myself now :/

Re: H1 Clutch fitting
If anyone has a steel laying around, for an H or L model, they could measure with a micrometre you'd be doing me a huge favor.

Re: H1 Clutch fitting
I measured the steels I have and they're 1.60mm. Wemoto got back to me and said the steels they have are 1.60mm too which I would have expected because that's where I bought them from originally.

Re: H1 Clutch fitting
Looking at the microfiche I reckon the 1.60mm steels are for the J1 clutch and the H1 needs 2.30mm steels.

Re: H1 Clutch fitting
Thanks for recommending Cradley they have confirmed the H1 needs 2.30mm plates. Seems wemoto has the parts mixed up with J1 steels.
