1992 L2 thoughts sell break or keep

Post by cargo »

I've just pick up a non runner 1992 L2

I'm thinking it might be worth saving and selling complete once I get it running and tidy it up a bit.
It wont be immaculate but it'll be running and clean (ish)

It will also be at a VERY GOOD price.

So if anyone is thinking of a new bike or a track day toy....................you might just find this to be what your after.

If need be I can deliver to Liverpool or Cairnryan in Scotland.............(for a price of course)

More information will appear once I get looking at it properly

90% sure it will be a runner...................

Once again an idiot with a spanner :wanker has incorrectly fitted a cam chain tensioner not only that but I'm 100% its the wrong tensioner too :wanker

Looks like timing is one tooth out and cam chain is slapping like a bitch................................ :excited

Oh and if I ever see a ZXR400 owner on here posting a picture of his or her bike fitted with spouting bolts I will personally come round to your house and insert my size nine in you butt :rant

What state is the lump in?

and how much would you want for it if you were to break the bike.

If I'm right in my diagnosis of the fault. It will need a new cam chain tensioner and cam chain. Possibly a tensioner blade. I think also there's a issue with the clutch but that might just be the fact that it has the wrong cable fitted. Everything else seems fine. The clocks show 20K I've no evidence either way if that's correct or not.

Right now I think I'll be selling it complete...............however it will be at a very good price to allow for the less that perfect bodywork.

Bide your time young CaNsA.............let this master finish his work.............and we can talk later

Carbs, assuming they were always on this bike, and it appears they were, would certainly suggest this milage, needles, float valves etc all tip top.
Everything nice and standard, just dirty, dirty, dirty, exactly how I like 'em.
They are about to feel the lovin' :smt007 May even get some nice shiney s/s cap screws, phwoooarrrrr.

If she runs after your fixy uppys, sell her for decent moolah, last one I bought was cosmetically lovely, but a mechanical mess, and I paid good money for her, I would much rather fork out good money for a mechanically sound bike in need of a spray etc, had I not just bought a fixer upper I might have made you an offer.
Best of luck mate.

More butchery

I removed most of the sealer before taking the picture.

I've got a tray of graveyard bits to share when I'm finished including spouting bolts and a self tapper roofing bolt oldman

Clutch is all lovely now and engine is back in the frame........................lots of cleaning and polishing now.

Carbs are cleaner than a clean thing that's never been dirty and waiting on a seal kit.

This wee bike wont be cosmetically perfect by any means it will however be a sound runner and a bargain too when it goes for sale.

Oh alright then, my modesty would normally prevent me from saying what a thoroughly good job I've made of your carbs, my best yet, seems wrong to use them now, they are that good, seriously though they will be good as new when rebuilt and sealed, pics to come.
