Hi for anyone that may be interested, It is possible to change the 750l clocks for the 400l9 clocks. The speedo registers the same as the 400 within a mile or two. The rev Counter works fine. The only problems I had was a) with the temp gauge, I had to remove the bezel/glass and needle, then change the 400 dial face with the 750 one and replace the needle. B) I had to remove the bezel glass and adjust the mileometer to match my original 400l one. Jobs a good one!!

Can anyone tell me how to remove the glass and bezel from the instruments?I have white dials that I want to put on,also changing from mph to kph..Any help appreciated

Hopefully you will be able to look at this link and see how the crimped ring holding the glass in place is removed. It is tedious and will require patience. When replaced it will need to be crimped again. I have done it on a couple of speedometers. BUT, you also talk about converting it from kph to mph. I am not certain, but I think that the gears inside need changing to achieve that. I do know that "grey imports" from Japan (which use kph instruments) had to be fitted with a small "gearbox" on the back of the speedo to convert it to mph. It would be easier to just source a UK speedo.

Sorry! I have just read your post again and realised that you want to change from mph to kph. I had assumed that you were in the UK. But the problem is the same - gears inside the speedometer will need changing, so just source a kph speedo!

Thanks guys,the white dials I'm putting in are in kph so there's no issues there.They just replace the mph dials..I just need to get tge bezel and glass off,would a heat gun soften the lip that needs to be raised right around the back if the dial?why do these company's make replacment dials for speedos that are in a sealed casing,I don't understand it

The case and bezel are made of steel, so a heat gun will make little difference to the flexibility of the material. You need to tease a little of the rolled edge up sufficiently to allow the blade of the screwdriver to get underneath and then twist the handle of the screwdriver to lift a little of the next section. Then advance the driver under the lifted section to raise the next part of the rolled edge. If you are right handed you will be progressing anti-clockwise round the rolled edge. The idea is to lift the edge all round by a small amount, and then go round again, lifting it a little more, and repeating until it is nearly vertical, allowing it to be removed. This procedure will ensure that the material is not stretched excessively, creating a frilled effect. It is tedious, so be prepared to devote time to doing the job. I assume that the new dial you are installing on the speedo will be such that when the motorcycle is moving at 100 mph, the needle will be pointing to 160 kph.
