perished gasket

Post by zxrtbone »

i took my air box off earlier and i noticed that the gasket which seals the air box to the carbs has perished and did not look good at all, also the other gasket(the one at the top of the air box which has to be removed to get to the air filter) has perished too, would this make a difference to the performance on my bike? :smt017

could well do. you dont need air leaking in as it weakens the mixture. try and replace it.

how is it going to affect the mixture if it's leaking before the carbs?

a leak between the carbs and the engine, yes, but before the carbs, no.

only issue I would have thought is it is bypassing the filter.
