How do micron cans fit micron pipes?

Post by Lee »

I haven't been on here for a while so il give a brief update. I managed to buy a cheap zxr with a seized engine in the winter, since then iv bought a second working engine and stripped and cleaned everything up. I also won a set of micron down pipes off ebay the other day (waiting to be received) but im startin to wonder how a micron can attaches as it just looks like a pipe end with no mounting etc from the picture. Does anyone have a micron full system? Also are there different variations in the zxr micron downpipes?

Ta in advance for any replys.

As far as i know the Micron pipes for ZXR require a slip on pipe. So instead of a mounting plate and three bolts as you get with a standard ZXR you get just the end of the pipe with a Micron, and the appropriate Micron can just slips on and you do up a jubilee type clip.

I've got a race micron which is a bolt on to the standard system. And now I've got a set of SS micron Dp's which are a slip on system with road can.

I intend to fab something to fit the race can onto the slip on link pipe

Ah right, got it now, thanks guys. Next guestion; Are there any other manufacturers that have a slip on arrangement that will fit the micron pipes, i.e. scorpion, arrow etc? i suppose it will depend to the diameter of the pipe though.

I'm not aware of any other manufacturer that produces a can to fit micron pipework, they use a much larger bore.

The trouble with having an open mind, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it.

I had a scorpion slip on end can but that went on Nassert Beet link pipes, that was a 35mm bore. And as Xphy quite rightly stated, Micron use a larger diameter pipe.

All that matters is the diameter of the pipework. You will find that bikes like the ZX10R, mille etc have the same diameter that you are looking for.
