This week i have been mostly sniffing

NITROMOORS!!! :smt118

wooooooooooeeeeeeeeeeeee!!! I tell you this is some good toad! Started doing some prep for the bike when and if it goes to the sprayers, hopefully this summer! Here's some pictures of the progress.

First application, was pretty funny you could hear it crackling away and the echo if it inside the tank, was pretty cool watching it peel off in front of your eyes!

Image

Second application, it started to rain so had to take it indoors, getting used to the fumes at this point, ill be fine indoors!

Image

Third application, looks messy dont it!

Image

Final result, had to put on a little bit more for the stubborn stuff but has cleaned up to this so far :smt003 worst bit to come off was the at the sides where you have a green undercoat, and then over that there is the the white on top, so obviously a few more layers there than the rest of the tank.

Image

Now, has anyone got any idea how to fill the dent in and what with, on the side of the tank there?

I was hoping to avoid specialists as i want to keep it cheap! So the more i can do at home the less leaves my pocket! I thought some sort of filler might do it, ill take a couple more picture just to give you an idea of how it actually looks.

I happen to think it looks well tasty bare, only thing is, is getting the rest of the bike to match! Carbon fibre tank would finish it off to a 'T' i want complete complete bodywork too! It seems making carbon parts is the same as making glassfibre parts just different materials are used. Ive looked at making carbon parts and it doesnt seem that difficult, alot of trial and error getting it right but it would be so worth it.

From what i've been told its not masively hard and i know people who have taken it up and made little parts (clock sourounds ect) and they look really good!

If you look on ebay they sell the off cuts cheap so you can have a play around and get used to useing it

I reckon, if you could perfect mudguards alone and turn out reasonable components you could give up the day job and run an eBay business.

No worries!

The markup on retail carbon components is insane, you would be able to charge 50% less than everyone else and due to a small focussed production environment with low overheads and no real business pressure, still make a huge profit.

If i was you rob i would just buy a new tank from e bay for monopoly money just means you would have to strip it again but at least when you spray it then it will all be perfect with nothin filled to worry about :smt004

yeah i did think about that superman, but they dont seem to come up that often and when they do they are part of a bodykit that they dont want to split. Anyways, where's the fun in that? I had a great time with the fumes! :smt118 :smt119 :smt120 :smt110 :smt103 :smt101 :smt081
