I agree - lets put this in percentage terms.

The first ZXR400s have ca 60hp (as do the latest), a 600cc sports bike of that age have ca 100hp. A new 600 has in the region of 120hp - which is an increase of 20%
So if you add the same percentage increase to a 60hp ZXR400 engine, you get 72hp.

I dont understand why they would bother developing a new 400, the weight savings are not significant over a 600cc bike (just look at the difference between a modern 600 and 1000cc bike.

indeed but i disagree with you on the acceleration the R1 will out accelerate the porche no problem i think it might take the bends better to ( depending on the bend thoe) have you seen the size of these new R1's there tiny things, and getting smaller by the year. the only car i would never race on any bike would be a veyron, that car is the top dog. can someone lend me 1 million £ please!

Take into consideration the size of the bike an all thats decent weight gains but i dont know much about this lot however 72 brake wouldnt be bad. i think they would be popular for ppl who have just passed there DAS an that pretty similar to now. plus the insurance is way less

way cool vid dont give concrete ev on the porche thoe cos it was behind the R1 at the start. but that veyron smashed it completely. how fast must that be. that is an awsome car. made the R1 look like a Pushbike

the most depressing thing I've had cause to compare acceleration with was a Merc ML420 (?) - great big SUV thingy. they are terrifyingly quick for something that big.

round bassetts pole island from the A453 to the A38 south. Didn't really try to get away first, but pulled off fairly quickly, and was amazed he was still with me on the exit of the roundabout (at which point I backed off a bit rather than try to ride round the outside of him). From that point (~40mph) up to 120 odd I was basically just keeping up with him.

straight race from a standstill the bike would take it, but on an awkward take off (round a roundabout) I was amazed how much 4wd, massive tyres and a ridiculously large engine can compensate for a ridiculously unwieldy vehicle.
In the garage:
Kawasaki ZXR400 L3 - shiny
Suzuki DR800 - bouncy
1978 Suzuki GS400 - PROJECT RETRO RACER!
Kawasaki GPz500S - for sale soon
Honda CG125 BR-J - in bits
