Where can I buy M8 x 1.00 grub screws? needs to be about 20 - 25mm length.

I can find normal pitch - but fine seems to be hard to come by!

any ideas

searching for "set screws" rather than "grub screws" might help.

quick search turned up somewhere selling M8 x 1.00 x 25mm as part of a selection box, but i've lost the page cos I'm crap. sorry.

doing anything interesting? or just a work related question?

M8 x 1.00 is a bit small for us to use here an M18 OTOH is an entirely different matter

my better half has a K1200R and has managed to somehow loose the clutch lever adjusting screw. and BMW being BMW only supply it as a whole assembly costing about £36! So, I'm now on a mission to find a solution:-)

I've got M8 x 1.00 socket head, which fits just fine. Unfortunately the screw head touches the switch gear when the clutch lever is pulled in. Can cut the head down, but it wont look particularly neat.
So a grub screw would solve that problem.

typical to get these problems 2.5 days before we are off to the Nurbuirgring!

I did eventually find that page again, but closer inspection of the photo revealed them to be hex head - sadly while grub screw does refer to a grub screw and nothing else, there seems to be all sorts of things called set screws. so no help to you.


and you always break your bike just before you need it - because you tend to work on your bike just before a big trip. My favourite was deciding to do an oil change on the GS before riding it back down to uni at the start of term. Stripped the drain hole thread. £25 job to get it helicoiled, but the fact it was an engine out job (no removable sump on the GS) meant I went back to Bath on the train and spent the whole term without a bike before finally having time to sort it during the next holidays.

Thanks - I can find plenty of M8 x 1.25 grub screws or set screws whichever you prefer to call them
But finding an M8 x 1.00 is proving slightly more difficult! I have a box of M8 x 1.00 cap screws at home - and they fit, i just want a grub screw to make it pretty

I'll just have to keep on looking

Couldnt you just bang one in a soft jaw vice and take the .25 of the end you wont see? or am i missing something else?

the 1.00 and 1.25 refer to the pitch of the thread, not the length.

how do you know what the pitch is?

either look at what it says on the box, find a thread gauge, or see if it fits into caz's bloke's bike!

mmmmmmmthese aint in a box, we aint got a thread gauge so i guess if isend some off and they dont fit nowt lost then??
